The
$5 1/10 OZ American Gold Eagle
is based on a design introduced by the United States Mint in 1986. The US Gold Eagle is the is the number one gold bullion
coin choice among investors worldwide.
Its obverse side, which portrays Lady Liberty, is copied from the design of the famous twenty dollar Saint Gaudens gold coin commissioned by President Teddy Roosevelt.
The reverse features the new Type 2 gold Eagle design. The new engraving, designed by US Mint artist Jennie Norris, depicts the beautiful head of a bald eagle showcasing its distinctive
and hooked beak used to devour its prey.
Gold Eagles are made only from twenty four carat gold mined in the United States plus small amounts of alloy to ensure minimal marring; the overall composition is twenty two
carat but each Eagle contains one full tenth-ounce of gold. The United States government guarantees gold content, weight, and purity.
The composition is as follows: 91.67% gold, 3% silver, 5.33% copper.
